4 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE BUILDING A WEBSITE

Not only has Joe improved his page rank by having more pages, he has also racked up more of those important keywords. AND his site is more useful and helpful to his visitors!

3. GRAPHIC VS. STATIC
Have you ever gone to a website and it took forever to load, because EVERYTHING, including the sections that you needed to read, was an image? Here's a hint – if you cannot select the text on a page, then it is an image. If you CAN select, copy, and paste it, it is what is called 'static' text. You want as much of the text on your website as possible to be static, for several reasons.

One – again, search engine rankings. Search engines want to be sure that if they send visitors to your site, those visitors will find it to be useful and relevant. Therefore, they rank you based on the keywords in your content, but they cannot index those words if they are in an image file. Why would you spend all that time writing great copy for nothing?

Two – your visitors will thank you. Not only will your site load faster, but your text will probably be easier to read (small text is often blurred when it is in an image file). Keep in mind also that many internet users have the images turned off on their computers. That means if they go to your site, and the whole thing is an image, they will see exactly the amount of business you will get from them – nothing.
