4 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE BUILDING A WEBSITE

The second reason to have great content is that search engines base a large percentage of their results on the words that you have used in your body copy. When you sit down to write your website content, put together a list of the keywords that you expect people to type into Google to find your site. Use those keywords in your content as much as you can – of course, it still needs to read well and be professional.

2. SIZE MATTERS
Google has a thing called 'page rank' that it uses to determine how sites are going to show up in search results. The better your page rank, the higher you will be on the list. Part of how Google determines page rank is by the size of your site. The more pages you have, the better you'll do. So when you are putting your content together, consider breaking up long sections into smaller page-sized chunks.

Also, consider having how-to and informational pages on your site. To use an example, my friend Joe owns Classic Construction. He could include a page on his website explaining how to perform minor home repairs. You could argue that by providing this information, he is taking away his own business. However, a customer who types in 'home repair michigan' in google and finds his website will appreciate the useful information and keep his company in mind when they need a larger repair. Or maybe they will realize he knows his stuff and hire him to do the job instead.
